Papa

Hey guys, its me again. I am writing to you to talk about no laughing matter. My father has broken his leg and is now injured and can't work at the railroad (where he usually works). How he broke his leg you ask? Well here in Mississippi, racism is a really is a really popular thing, seems like everyone over here hates us, the teachers, the businessmen, even the mailman! And guess what, the owners of the only store that sells food over here are racist, and they always treat us like some kind of trash, no matter how nice we are to them, they always treat us as if we were children of the devil. Because of how they treat us, we decided to go food-shopping at Vicksburg, despite the fact that it is miles away, so that the Wallace's (the owners of the store) could have a taste of their own medicine. It seems like they despised it because when Papa, Stacey and Mr. Morrison were coming back from Vicksburg the Wallace's sabotaged his wagon and made the wheels fall off and while Papa was fixing the wheels the Wallace's drove by on their truck and ambushed them without making a single noise because it was the rain was coming down in buckets and they only turned on their headlights when they stopped. As Papa was reaching for his shotgun they shot him in the head (luckily it only made a scratch) and then he fell with his leg under one of the wheels. because of the tremendous rumble that the gun made Jack, our horse, panicked and tried to run away pulling the wagon with him, making the wheel roll over Papa's leg and break it. Now Stacey is all depressed because he thinks that he made Papa break his leg because he didn't stop Jack. And now Papa is scared because he thinks that we're going to lose our land because he and Mama are not working (I will tell you about Mama's story later because this post is getting too big) and Papa doesn't know what to do.

Well. This is it for today's post. If you have been to a situation like this please help me because i'm feeling really bitter and hollow.
Bye.

- Cassie
